The superb thick aluminium alloy casework of the Original CD-2008 'Special Version' certainly will struck a chord sound for the price; detailed and inviting. Equally impressive as a transport.
The sound from the 2008SV is still recognisably CD, but it has an air and grace I've not heard at this price (granted, my usual diet is big black discs). There's a sense of clarity and definition that allows the music to come through and draw you into the performance better than far more expensive rivals. The subtleties do make for an emotional performance. It times well too, and worked well on noisier tracks like The Black Keys' Grown So Ugly played loud, as with Isaac Hayes' Shaft theme (the hi-hat strikes are really impressive for CD, at this price). You can also easily make out the lyrics in a busy processed pop track like Kelly Clarkson's Miss Independent, which isn't the case with some other players I've heard. ELEGANTLY ALUMINIUM: Ooh, we can't get enough of that lovely casework, and incidentally, that's the rear panel of the CD-2008. Needless to say if you're into classical and choral music, or live on a diet of audiophile discs, you're in for a treat.
I would recommend a Statmat CDi Blue to go with it to improve top end performance. I think we have a untouchable unit for the price. The 2008SV is more than worth looking at, even if just for transport duties.Je haalt wel wat in huis met deze speler. Niet alleen is de Original geweldig op het muzikale vlak, ook qua looks en bouwwijze speelt 't ook een hoofdrol. De CD-2008 weegt ca 14Kg!
Op de bovenkant zitten wel redelijk wat krassen door het betere stapelwerk maar dit valt in een rack absoluut niet op.
